How to Become a Mold Inspector

People motivated to enter the exciting mold inspection industry are almost always confused on the best way to get started. My best advice is:

Find a respected mold inspection company to hire you. Usually you will have to begin as an intern or trainee.
Get certified! The best place to start is the American Indoor Air Quality Council (http://www.iaqcouncil.org).
Join the Indoor Air Quality Association (http://www.iaqa.org). This is a great place to learn about the industry and attend workshops and meetings. You will also get a chance to network with others already in the industry.
Learn as much as you can about building sciences--how buildings are built and the various components of a building (i.e. HVAC, roof, walls, grading, etc.).
