About Mold Remediation
Mold remediation (also called Black Mold Remediation or Toxic Mold Remediation) is a process that:
- Safely removes or cleans moldy materials within a structure
- old remedation is generally performed by professionals in the field
- In most cases, the area being remediated is isolated from the rest of the structure via physical engineering controls called "containments". These containments are kept under negative air pressure by specialized machines
- Once an area is remediated, it is common practice to have a mold inspector, industrial hygenist, or indoor environmental professional evaluate the work. This is called post remediation inspection and sampling or clearance inspection
- The area should be visibly clean
- Humidity should be below 60%
- There should be no activly wet building materials
- The air sampled from the containment should be statistically similar to outdoor air
- Remediation should be performed to the standards of the IICRC S500
